Located in Northern Arizona, in what is now the Coconino National Forest, the San Francisco Peaks are sacred to many native cultures, including the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni. They play a central role in the Hopi creation narrative, and are a focal point of worship in all cultures.
I came across this view from Sacred Peaks Trail on a recent trip to Flagstaff, home of Northern Arizona University. If you visit the South Rim of the Grand Canyon via Flagstaff, you should have a good view of these important volcanic mountains.
